National Championships Umpiring Information
Each year National Championships are held around Australia in the following categories:
- Under 16 Boys/Girls
- Under 18 Men/Women
- Under 23 Men/Women
- Open Men/Women
- Over 35 Men/Women
- Additional National Events include U14’s Regional and International Friendship Series.
Each year, umpires can nominate their availability for consideration for national appointment by completing the application form as outlined below.
This process is to be completed if you wish to attend in the following roles:
- Nationally accredited umpire (currently level 5 or higher)
- State accredited umpire (currently level 2 or higher)
- Candidate umpire (currently a level 4 or 5)
The purpose of the National Championships includes, but is not limited to:
- providing opportunities for participation in elite competition
- contributing to player, coach, umpire and statistician identification and development pathways
- providing interstate competition at both age-grade and open-grade
- providing selection opportunities for higher honours and selection in national teams
- encouraging participation, to enhance the growth of the game
- providing opportunities for financial gain and increasing the profile of softball in Australia
2025 Summer of Softball events
Softball Australia is calling for umpire applications for the upcoming 2025 Summer of Softball events being held in December 2024 and January-February-March 2025.

*Level 2 and 3 umpires are encouraged to apply for U14 Regional Championships.
**Level 4 Umpires are encouraged to apply for U16 National Championships. Appointment to these Championships will be dependent on application numbers.
***O35 National Championships expressions of interest will be called for in early February 2025.
Event dates:
Event dates are correct at the time of applications opening. Softball Australia reserves the right to adjust dates.
Event nominations:
- Umpires are requested to advise availability:
- The number of weeks in December
- The number of weeks in January-February
- The total number of weeks for both December and January-February if applicable.
- Umpires will NOT be required to nominate the Championship they prefer, and appointments will be made based on the umpire’s level, experience and the requirements for the Championship(s).
- We understand some umpires may not be available for a particular week in January and we ask you provide this information, with explanation in the comment section of the application.
Application:
Umpires must complete the online application form by 5pm Saturday 11th August 2024.
You are required to submit all attachments in the specified formats (see below).
WWCC/WWVP/Blue Card
Prior to completing your EOI, please ensure your RevSport member profile is up to date to include your Working with Children (member state equivalent) information.
You can log into your RevSport profile via the Softball Australia website.
Australian Rules Assessment results
You will be required to report your 2024 Rules Assessment result. If you have forgotten your result from 2024 you would have received an email with your completion certificate and result from do-not-reply@classmarker.com
The first round of appointments for the 2025 Summer of Softball will come from those who sat the 2024 Rules Assessment (unless dispensation has been sought) as per the Softball Australia Umpiring Program Operating Code.
Umpire Activity Diary
You must upload an Activity Diary using the correct template.
The template can be found on the resource page of the Softball Australia website.
You need to record all activity you have completed to do with umpiring. This includes games umpired, training and development you have attended, training and development you have conducted and administration you have completed.
Diary activity will need to include at least 12 months’ worth of activity, starting no earlier than 1 May 2023 and ending no later than 31 July 2024.
Development Plan (Candidates only)
All level 5 and 6 candidates must submit a comprehensive development plan. This plan will be reviewed by the Development NUIC prior to nationals and may reserve the right to request further information.

Softball Australia Official Code of Conduct
You need read the Softball Australia Official Code of Conduct and confirm you have read the code and will act in accordance.
You will need to submit the following information to accept your National Appointments:
· Medical Information
· Travel Information
We will not be requesting profile photos or a copy of your Play by the Rules certificates. The PBTR certificates will need to be presented to your state when renewing your accreditation within the database.
If you have already registered for 2024/25 membership season with your club/association, we would prefer you to login to complete the EOI. Otherwise, you can complete as a guest on this occasion.
Any application that does not comply with the requirements outlined above will be notified by email and will have 24hrs to rectify their application. The NUC Executive may disregard an application if the requirements are not compliant.

Umpire Activity Log
An electronic Umpire Activity Log has been developed and is available for immediate use. When applying for National appointments, submission of Umpire Activity Logs will only be accepted using this tool. Any umpire who has been using their own Excel spreadsheet can, with a little knowledge and care, copy and paste the relevant columns.
