Victorian Association Northern District and the Lilydale Ejays Club have topped their respective Association and Club Homeplate ladders for the 2020/21 season.

The Homeplate program is Softball Australia’s Club and Association recognition program established to recognise Clubs and Associations for implementing best practice governance, management as well as membership growth and retention.

Both Northern District Association and Lilydale Ejays continued to push to build their communities following a difficult period for local sport throughout the last 12 months.

Associations reaching Homeplate include:

  1. Northern Districts – 133pts
  2. Keilor Park – 121pts
  3. Geelong – 90pts
  4. Northern Tasmania – 88pts
  5. Waverley – 85pts
  6. Sunshine – 85pts

Clubs reaching Homeplate include:

  1. Lilydale Ejays, Knox Association – 119pts
  2. Hawks Fastpitch, Werribee Association – 110pts
  3. Saints, Northern Tasmania Association – 109pts

In place since 2016, the Homeplate Program has provided grassroots Clubs and Associations guidelines on ensuring best practices are achieved in the development of their communities.

Moving forward, the Homeplate Program will be replaced by Sport Australia’s wider Club Development program Game Plan.

What is Game Plan?

Sport Australia’s Game Plan is a digital platform designed to provide sporting clubs of all sizes with insights into their current capability and connect them with specific tools and resources to build and support ongoing development. It will replace the existing Club Health Check.

Game Plan has been developed to enable a club to improve the quality of skills of its people, the volunteers and management, to adapt quickly and maximise the resources a club has. When key committee workforce is churned or lost, the club will have access to a trusted record, allowing organisational continuity over time.
