Following a diligent recruitment process, Softball Australia is pleased to announce the appointment Peter Rainer (NSW) and Scott Sunley (QLD) as Assistant Coaches for the 2022 Under-23 World Cup.

Softball Australia is also pleased to confirm the appointment of Jamie Barrington (NSW) as Team Manager and Tony Jackson (NSW) as Video Analyst for the Under 23 Men’s Team. Tony has gathering video footage of athletes at the Open Men & Under 23 Nationals, and Softball Australia congratulates Tony on his appointment.

Peter, Scott, Jamie, and Tony will join forces with Head Coach David Metekingi for Australia’s first ever WBSC Under 23 World Cup campaign.

Softball Australia CEO Rosie Williams OBE said, “Both Peter and Scott impressed during the 2022 National Championships, coaching their teams to the Open Men’s and Under 23 Men’s titles respectively. Jamie’s previous experience and sports background also made him the ideal candidate for Team Manager, and it’s exciting to see the inaugural Under 23 Men’s team coming together as we prepare for the World Cup in Argentina later this year.”
