Softball governing bodies committed to running National Championships
Published Fri 03 Sep 2021
Softball Australia, together with Member States and Territories are committed to conducting National Championships with an agreement recently reached to postpone the upcoming tournaments, in order to give all stakeholders the best possible opportunity to compete in 2022.
Following a number of meetings between Softball Australia and Member States and Territories over the past several weeks, the combined decision has been made to reschedule all National Championships to the period between April and July 2022.
This window has been identified to minimise the impact on local summer club competitions, which have already been significantly affected in some states.
The postponement is due to uncertainty around Covid restrictions from various State Governments, and it is the view of all parties following the cancellation of National Championships in 2020/2021, every effort must be made to host the Nationals in 2022.
To ensure an informed decision is made, Softball Australia and Member States/Territories will seek feedback from members involved in the Championships via surveys in the coming weeks.
This decision has been announced as early as possible to assist with planning and uncover a solution which will be as suitable for as many stakeholders as possible.
Further information on final dates will be provided in due course.
Again, Softball Australia would like to remind the softball community, the Governing Bodies aim is to run National Championships not cancel them.
All decisions are made with best interest of our members at the forefront.
