Softball Australia to relocate to Sports House, Albert Park, Melbourne
Published Mon 25 Mar 2024
Softball Australia (SA) and Softball Victoria (SV) will be moving into a new headquarters based at Sports House in Albert Park, Victoria as part of the Lakeside Sport Precinct from 2 April 2024.
In a memo to staff, Softball Australia CEO Sarah Loh said “The decision to move the current wasn’t taken lightly. SA considered all the major factors and benefits ahead of making the move, which include a more central location, overall savings in expenditure and the opportunity from being in proximity to peak sporting bodies such as the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS), VicSport and the Australian Sports Foundation.
The sports precinct is also home of Athletics Australia and Victoria, Combat Australia, Gymnastics Australia, Badminton Australia, Kite Board Australia, Dragon Boat Racing Victoria, Judo Victoria, Lacrosse Victoria, NRL (Victoria), School Sport Victoria and Triathlon Victoria and is next to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC).
With the recent announcement of Softball’s inclusion into the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic program this is a great time for SA to be amongst other National and State Sporting Organisations and key stakeholders.”
The move in April 2024 comes approximately four years after a move to the La Trobe University Sports Stadium. Loh thanked La Trobe University and their facilities team for their partnership, saying “Softball Australia were warmly welcomed by the University team and it was great to be amongst some wonderful community and state of the art facilities.”
