Softball Australia Commences Search For New CEO

The Softball Australia Board is seeking a commercially orientated and people focused Chief Executive Officer to continue to develop and lead the strategic and operational activities of Softball Australia. 

Softball Australia is the National Sports Organisation (NSO) responsible for the management, coordination, development and promotion of softball, Australia wide.  With a thriving community of players, coaches and supportive fans, Softball Australia hosts ground-breaking events and programs, whilst running the high-performance sector of the sport and curating participation from the grass-root levels to Olympic success.   

As the CEO, you will be responsible for leading Softball Australia to drive and deliver the strategic and operational plans of the organisation, and will be tasked with engaging the softball community, building membership and managing stakeholder relationships, while running the day to day operations of the sport.  

Working closely with the Board, you will have the opportunity to build and leverage the existing team of staff, whilst working with highly committed volunteer and stakeholder groups in refining and implementing the strategic vision for Softball Australia. 

The Softball Australia CEO will have oversight and responsibility of: 

  • providing strong, effective leadership and direction to the Softball Australia family of stakeholders and the sport of softball generally in Australia, to ensure future development and promotion through well executed commercial, high performance and event related programs.  

  • assuming overall responsibility for the management of the day to day operations of Softball Australia, including all the human and financial resources, while driving and developing the business consistent with the agreed strategic direction.  

  • continuing to develop diverse revenue streams, reducing the reliance on Government revenues to underpin the delivery of Softball Australia's programs, services and activities. 

  • Implementing strategies and programs to grow the participant base throughout Australia and provide pathways for athletes, coaches, officials and administrators of all ages, genders and cultures throughout Australia. 

To be considered for this role you will need to be a dynamic leader, with the ability to connect, inspire and work collaboratively with a wide range of key stakeholders and staff. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to shape forward planning to ensure delivery of high quality and meaningful services and programs. 

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Strong, effective leadership skills with the ability to inspire others to achieve the identified strategic objectives of Softball Australia; 

  • Previous Chief Executive Officer or Senior Executive/GM experience is highly regarded; 

  • A track record of leading high performance teams and/or organisations to reach their full potential, supported by a strong and positive culture; 

  • High level commercial and financial acumen, including the capacity to interpret and report on financial accounts; 

  • Experience developing and setting a strategy and communicating a vision that inspires staff, athletes and key stakeholders to envision future success and move towards higher levels of excellence; 

  • Strong marketing skills, with the ability to identify commercial and marketing opportunities for Softball Australia and deliver growth and diversity in revenue streams; 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business or sport administration or equivalent; 

  • The ability to obtain and provide evidence of a current Working with Children’s Check. 

Position Location 

La Trobe Sports Stadium, La Trobe University, Bundoora Victoria.
