National Strength & Conditioning Coach – Australian Women's Team
Softball Australia is seeking an innovative and results-driven National Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCC) to join our elite performance team on a 12 month contract (Honorarium). In this role, you will design, implement, and oversee cutting-edge strength and conditioning programs for the Australian Women’s National Softball Team—using advanced scientific training principles like adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering, and recovery to boost athlete performance. You’ll collaborate with the National Women’s Head Coach, State Coaches, and the wider Performance Support team to develop tailored programs that prepare athletes for SA’s National Tournaments, International competitions, while also working with the National Institute Network (NIN) to ensure a comprehensive, athlete-centric approach.
As the National Strength & Conditioning Coach, you will:
• Develop & Implement Training Programs: Create elite, scientifically informed strength and conditioning programs for all phases of the competitive season.
• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with the National Women’s Head Coach, State Coaches, and a dedicated Performance Support Team—including sports dietitians, physiotherapists, and psychologists—to ensure training meets both tactical and physiological demands.
• Engage Stakeholders: Establish and maintain robust relationships with internal and external partners, including the National Institute Network, to deliver an integrated, athlete-centric approach.
• Manage Training Loads & Injury Prevention: Apply periodisation, peaking, tapering, and recovery strategies to optimise performance while minimising injury risks.
• Support Olympic Preparation: Contribute to the design and execution of conditioning programs that prepare athletes for upcoming Olympic cycles.
Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Exercise Science, Sport Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience delivering strength and conditioning programs in a high-performance or elite sport setting.
• Certification from a recognised authority (e.g., ASCA Professional Coach Accreditation).
• Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with athletes and coaches, with a preference for experience working with elite female athletes.
