First Ever Home Run Hero Programs Now Online

Published Mon 11 Jul 2022

Clubs and Associations across Melbourne are among the first in Australia to open registrations for Home Run Hero sessions.

Home Run Heroes is Softball Australia’s brand-new junior participation program, designed for children aged 4 to 10 and delivered year-round at any softball-friendly venue throughout Australia.

Home Run Heroes provides kids with a positive and fun experience in a safe and inclusive environment, and the first-ever HRH programs are being offered across Melbourne via the West Coburg Redbacks Softball Club, Kilsyth Diamonds and Knox Bluebirds Softball Clubs, and the Lilydale Ejays Softball Club.

The Kilsyth Diamond and Knox Bluebirds have come together to run a united Home Run Heroes program, and Kilsyth Diamonds Vice President and Junior Coordinator Sarah Lee said, “The tipping point for us, and the reason we are so excited about running Home Run Heroes, is that we saw a gap in the market for the kids aged 3 to 5, who sit on the sidelines during all the other programs and games.

“We wanted to get them involved and provide them with some activities, so they are established and live the game from an early game. Then, after they graduate from the Superheroes program, they can join our fully loaded softball competitions."

When asked what her message would be to other Clubs and Associations who may be contemplating setting up a HRH program, Sarah said, “Don’t be scared. Give it a go and provide an opportunity. We haven’t had a junior participation program for some time, so Home Run Heroes will hopefully be the steppingstone to a successful summer season.”

If your club or association would like to host a Home Run Heroes program, please complete this form. A State-based participation staff member will then be in touch to help you set up everything you need to host a program.

To register as a participant for one of the upcoming sessions at West Coburg, Kilsyth, or Lilydale, please use the HRH Program Finder.
