To further strengthen participation in softball, Softball Australia have established a National Participation Working Group and are actively seeking members of the community with suitable skills and experience to join.

The function of the National Participation Working Group (NPWG) is to oversee the delivery of the National Participation Plan (NPP) to ensure the purpose and objectives are met.

The Role of the NPWG is to:

• Receive reports on the status of project delivery of the NPP and provide advice and recommendations to the National Participation Manager (NPM);
• Make recommendations on the scope and timeline of the NPP and Operational Plan to ensure better alignment with the requirements of the Sport;
• Support the NPM in considering and embedding the aligned behaviours of all parties;
• Review and provide feedback on project stages;
• Address any issue that has major implications for the delivery of the NPP;
• Assist with reconciling differences in opinion and approach, and assist with resolving disputes arising from them; and
• Raise any potential risks and issues that could impact progress, as they arise.

Members of the NPWG responsibilities include:

• Attending all scheduled meetings;
• Make timely decisions and take action so as to not hold up progress;
• Hold open and honest discussions in the best interests of Softball in Australia;
• Be well informed on the business of the NPWG;
• Work collaboratively with other NPWG members;
• Be self-motivated and enthusiastic about the work of the NPWG;
• Be motivated to progressing the timely delivery of the plan and not engage in actions that unnecessarily stall delivery of the NPP; and
• Take consideration when discussing the NPP that opinions are based on having the best interests of the sport first and foremost.

Experience in softball is highly regarded, particularly at grass-roots level, however experience within the Australian education system and/or other sports will also be considered.
