Home Run Heroes Sidekicks is a product designed for 4- to 7-year-olds, and is all about kids having fun while they learn about softball. The Sidekicks Handbook and Lesson Plans make it super easy for coaches and volunteers to deliver awesome softball experiences for children.

The HRH Sidekicks Handbook and Lesson Plans step coaches and volunteers through everything they’ll ever need to know when getting new Home Run Heroes into the sport, and are super accessible with easy-to-follow instructions and language.

The Handbook contains background information about the sport and the Home Run Heroes program, and it includes a “How-To” guide for coaches with tips for delivering fun Sidekicks sessions.

The Lesson Plans are just that. They take coaches and volunteers through every step of each activity in any session, with a different Lesson Plan for each week of Sidekicks Program.

The resources also incorporate best-practice learning methods, such as the Change It and Game Sense approaches to participation programs.

Change It encourages simple modifications to activities, such as changing the rules, playing area, or the equipment to suit the maturity and skill level of participants. Put simply, it is a guide to putting more smiles on faces more often.

Game Sense is a tried and tested philosophy of prioritising fun and involvement above winning and focused skill development, which provides the best possible environment for a child to learn new skills.
