Aussie Steelers Squad Announced ahead of the 2025 WBSC Men's Softball World Cup Finals

Softball Australia is pleased to announce the 2025 Australian Men’s Softball, Aussie Steelers Squad, marking a crucial step in the journey towards the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals in Prince Albert, Canada, from 8-14 July 2025 and The 2025 world Games in Chegndu, China from 6-10 August. 

The squad features Australia’s top male softball players and will be narrowed down to 16 who will represent the Aussie Steelers on the world stage as they defend their title as reigning World Champions. . Only three teams in WBSC history have ever won back-to-back titles, and the Steelers are determined to join that exclusive club under the leadership of Head Coach, Michael Titheradge.

With a busy 2025 schedule ahead, including the Benchmark Event of the World Games in China and the 2025 WBSC World Cup, the squad will be put through rigorous preparation to ensure they are at peak performance for international competition.

Titheradge expressed his confidence in the squad, stating, “As the newly appointed Head Coach of the Aussie Steelers, I am extremely confident in our 30-man squad selected for the 2025 WBSC World Cup in Prince Albert, Canada. This squad of athletes blends youthful talent with seasoned experience, including several players returning from our 2022 World Championship Gold Medal-winning team. Their leadership and skill will be pivotal as we strive for back-to-back titles.”

“The squad also comprises several members from our Under 23 World Championship gold Medal-winning team who have international experience and have shown that they have the talent to step up and take their game to the next level.”

The squad will come together in Queensland from the 25-27 April, 2025, for the Australian Fast Pitch Shootout, where they'll focus on refining skills, game strategy, and preparing  both physically and mentally for the demands of international competition. The final team of sixteen athletes will be selected following this event to represent the Aussie Steelers at the 2025 WBSC World Cup in Prince Albert, Canada.

Softball Australia’s National High-Performance Director, Peta Searle, emphasised the importance of this preparation phase, stating, “This squad represents the pinnacle of men’s softball in Australia. The combination of experienced champions and emerging talent creates a dynamic and formidable team. Our focus leading into 2025 is to ensure that every player is equipped to meet the physical and mental challenges of international competition. The Australian Fast Pitch Shootout will be a vital part of our process in refining our squad and solidifying our game plan for the year ahead.”

Softball Australia congratulates all selected players and looks forward to the journey ahead as they aim to bring home another World Cup for Australia.
