Aussie Spirit lose to Mexico and end their Olympic campaign
Published Mon 26 Jul 2021
Early runs to Mexico proved too much for the Aussie Spirit to overcome, going down to 4-1 to end their Olympic campaign
Mexico outhit the Aussies 11 to 5 and scored 2 runs in both the 2nd and 4th innings to seal the win and a spot in the bronze medal game.
A home run by Jade Wall in the 6th gave the Aussies a glimmer of hope but tight pitching and defence by Mexico shut the Aussies down.
Both teams left 6 runners on base throughout the game.
Australia used three pitchers to stop the hits of Mexico, however Kaia Parnaby was credited with the loss.
The Aussie Spirit finished their Olympic campaign in 5th place with a 1 win 4 loss record.
