Aussie Men's Softballers ranked #1 in the world!
Published Thu 23 Nov 2023
Earlier this morning the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) released an updated World Ranking for Men's Softball, with Australia reaching the #1 rank for the first time since the program ranking system was implemented.
Australia currently holds the 2022 Men's Softball World Cup and the 2023 Men's Under-23 Softball World Cup, and recently placed fifth at the 2023 Men's Under-18 Softball World Cup in Mexico.
The recent WBSC Oceania Championship, where Australia finished first out of three teams, also helped to increase Australia's ranking points, with a narrow lead over the quality Japan men's program.
Softball Australia's Head of Pathways and High Performance Clare Humberstone was delighted with the news.
"The recent ranking news is further confirmation to us that the consistent work done within our program, across age groups, is world class, and caps off a very successful 12 months with two world championship trophies earned by our men's teams.
Congratulations to all our players, coaches and support staff who have represented us on the world stage. This is a great recognition of your work, over a long period, to get to this point."
