SOFTBALL AUSTRALIA NAMES ITS 2025 SOFTBALL WOMEN’S SQUADS, IN IT’S EXCITING CAMPAIGN TOWARDS LA 2028 OLYMPICS
Published Thu 27 Feb 2025
With less than 1,234 days before the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, Softball Australia is excited to announce the 2025 Women’s Squads. Leading the selections is the Aussie Spirit Squad, featuring the country’s top players, while the Aussie Spirit Futures Squad highlights the next generation of talent, who are primed to shape the future of Australian softball.
With a busy 2025 schedule, including the Benchmark Event of the World Games in China, both squads will play a vital role in building a strong foundation for selecting the strongest team for the World Games this year. To ensure peak performance, the Spirit Squad will participate in several training camps focused on refining skills, game strategy and preparing athletes both physically and mentally for the demands of international competition.
The Futures Squad reinforces Softball Australia’s commitment to developing elite talent and maintaining a strong pipeline for future success. This two-squad structure enhances depth, expands international exposure, and creates more opportunities for athletes at various stages of their high-performance journey. Led by Gen32 coach Neridah Wearne, the Futures Squad will play a crucial role in developing a strong pipeline of talent for the national program.
Softball Australia’s National High-Performance Director, Peta Searle, expressed excitement about the squad announcements and the future direction of the women’s program:
“This is an incredibly exciting time for Australian softball. With a new head coach to be appointed. A World Games campaign on the horizon, and the LA 2028 Olympic cycle now in full swing, these squads represent a crucial step in preparing our athletes for success on the international stage. The Aussie Spirit Squad will bring experience and leadership, while the Aussie Spirit Futures Squad highlights the impressive talent emerging through our pathways.”
The 2025 selections reaffirm Softball Australia’s commitment to fostering elite-level women’s talent and ensuring a strong pathway for future international success.
