Day 4 Schedule:
Game 24: ACT v NSW 9:00AM AWST
NSW 11 def ACT 5
NSW: 11R 13H 3E
ACT: 5R 6H 3E
Olivia Bonello and Sophie Burnett combine for 5RBIs in New South Wales’ 11-5 win over the ACT. The loss for the ACT ends their hopes at playing finals, but the five runs, added to the three scored against NSW on day one, are eight of the 12 total runs NSW has allowed in the tournament so far.
Game 25: NSW v VIC 12:00PM AWST
NSW 3 def VIC 0
NSW: 3R 8H 1E
VIC: 0R 4H 2E
Back-to-back wins for NSW as they are held to just three by Victoria. NSW managed eight hits through the game, but VIC did not allow those chances to be converted to runs with a quality defensive effort against a very strong team.
Game 26: SA v QLD 12:30PM AWST
QLD 6 def SA 4
QLD: 6R 7H 3E
SA: 4R 6H 3E
Queensland have put one foot inside the finals with a 6-4 win over South Australia. Bianca Markham the big contributor with the bat for QLD scoring 3RBIs. QLD got out to the early lead, but had to fight for it in the end as SA tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning. Markham’s single to score Caitlyn Hosking in the seventh helped get the winning runs on the board and QLD held SA runless to take the win.
Game 27: WA v ACT 2:30PM AWST
WA 8 def ACT 7
WA: 8R 7H 5E
ACT: 7R 6H 4E
WA hold on to a one-run win over the ACT, Kirra Gilchrist scoring 3RBIs and pitching the full game to lock in second place and the crucial double-chance final on day five. WA led 8-3 coming into the fifth, but ACT had plans for a comeback, scoring four, but could not find their way to the game-tying run.
Game 28: SA v NSW 3:00PM AWST
NSW 5 def SA 2
NSW: 5R 6H 0E
SA: 2R 1H 1E
New South Wales make it a clean-sweep and finish the round-robin with 10 wins from 10. Eliza King’s double to score Matilda Newman got NSW out to an early lead, followed up by a three-run second inning to hold a two-run advantage for most of the game. Jessica Smith shared pitching duties with Brooke Thomas and helped contain South Australia to just two in the second – with Smith’s nine strikeouts going a long way to clinch the perfect run of games.
NSW finish in top place with 80 runs for and only 14 against – eight of which came from the ACT. The loss leaves SA vulnerable to Victoria, who can pinch a place in the finals with a win over hosts WA in the final game of day four.
Game 29: ACT v QLD 5:00PM AWST
QLD 11 def ACT 4
QLD: 11R 15H 3E
ACT: 4R 6H 4E
Queensland secure third place with a big win over the ACT. A fast start for QLD saw them pile on the pressure with four runs in the first inning, holding out until the fifth before finally allowing ACT to cross home plate. Coming into the fifth it was 7-0, but the ACT halved the difference to start the sixth at 8-4. QLD held firm, scoring three more in the sixth to end the game an inning early.
Game 30: WA v VIC 8:00PM AWST
VIC 9 def WA 7
VIC: 9R 15H 0E
WA: 7R 8H 5E
Victoria claimed the last remaining finals place with their 9-7 win over Western Australia. Holly Reynolds took 10 strikeouts to help her side edge out the hosts. 3-2 after the second inning, it was a close game all the way through. Heading into the seventh it was anyone’s game, but VIC managed crucial runs thanks to a few fielding errors by WA that allowed Antigone Thornton and Remy Moore to score. The hosts had to at least tie the game in the seventh, but were held to just the one hit for no score.

Day 4 Schedule:
Game 16: VIC v QLD 9:00AM AWST
QLD 9 def VIC 6
QLD: 9R 7H 2E
VIC: 6R 6H 7E
Queensland hold off Victoria’s comeback to secure second place (at a minimum) and the all-important double-chance in the finals. QLD worked their way to a 6-0 lead through three innings, kicked off by a Nickolas Gehrmann homer that scored Haydan Dobe in the second inning. VIC did their best to flip the momentum in the fourth, holding QLD scoreless before Luke Russell got things moving with a home run – just one of two Russell would score for the game. At 6-5 heading into the sixth inning, QLD dug deep and found three more runs to secure the win.
Game 17: ACT v VIC 11:30AM AWST
VIC 9 def ACT 2
VIC: 9R 9H 1E
ACT: 2R 2H 2E
Victoria got off to a charging start against the ACT in their 9-2 win to secure finals. Five unanswered runs in the first two put VIC in control. Luke Russell’s productive day continued, pitching six innings and taking nine strikeouts, while stepping up to the plate to hit a third homer for the day and score 3RBIs.
The loss for ACT confirmed their tournament exit, as they needed to win their final two to have a chance at finals.
Game 18: WA v NSW 2:00PM AWST
NSW 10 def WA 2
NSW: 10R 11H 2E
WA: 2R 1H 1E
New South Wales bagged their sixth win of the tournament with monster fourth inning against WA splitting the teams. It was a tight affair through the first three, with just a two-run advantage in favour of NSW as they ended the third, but then the batting lineup for NSW took seven runs from five hits in the fourth, with Evan Wulff’s homer the last on the board. WA managed to reply with a solitary run in the fourth, but NSW weren’t done with the bat. Another five in the fifth inning made it 15-2 and a big difference for the hosts to overcome. WA managed another three but could not avoid the runs-ahead-rule at the end of the fifth.
Game 19: QLD v NSW 4:30PM AWST
NSW 7 def QLD 0
NSW: 11R 10H 2E
QLD: 7R 7H 4E
New South Wales have ended up with a 7-0 win due to a Queensland forfeit as the trailing team were unable to field the full nine players to continue. It was a close one until the game had to be called, even though NSW had two big innings with the bat, scoring four in the first and seven in the fourth, QLD had limited the damage somewhat while keeping in firing distance – and given the earlier 15-13 encounter between these two teams, anything was possible. Unfortunately for all, the early finish will leave us wondering what could have been.
NSW clinch top spot with the win, and QLD have the double chance tomorrow as a buffer to help them overcome the injuries of the night.
Game 20: ACT v WA 7:30PM AWST
ACT 11 def WA 8
ACT: 11R 8H 5E
WA: 8R 8H 2E
ACT grab their first win in the final game of the round-robin against hosts WA, fending off a comeback to hold on and win by three runs. They got off to a promising start, keeping WA from scoring and bringing home three in reply in the first inning. From there, the ACT kept scoring, bringing at least one home in every inning. After the fourth, it was 8-3, and WA were right back in it, with Bailey Hart’s double helping Geoffrey Kerr to score and start a five-run comeback to level the game. The ACT kept their scoring going and took the lead back thanks to Zac Mullen’s homer, that scored Macks Powell. The ACT then held firm with two more defensive innings to keep the WA batters at bay and bring home the win.
