2023 Softball Australia Open Rules Assessment

Softball Australia would like to advise the opening of the 2023 Open Rules Assessment. The assessment will open on Saturday 22 April 2023 and will remain open until Sunday 30 April 2023.
The assessment is not just for umpires, but also for players, coaches, and the Softball community who want to improve their understanding of the game and test their knowledge of the latest rules. The assessment consists of 100 True/False questions covering various aspects of the game. The assessment is available online, is open book and can be taken at any time during the open period.
To help prepare for the assessment, there are a range of materials available online. These include:
- Reviewing the latest rulebook: Umpires should ensure they are familiar with the latest rulebook, as it may have changed since their last assessment.
- Know how to access the Softball Australia Technical Bulletins.
- Ensure you have registered for the Open Rules Assessment or checked your previous log in. Check out this quick reference guide to assist you.
- Give the practice questions a go.
- Join the Softball Australia Umpires Facebook page to see latest updates and Rule Questions of the Day in the lead up to the exam.

Taking the assessment is an excellent opportunity for umpires to improve their skills and knowledge of the game. It is also a chance for players, coaches, and the greater community to deepen their understanding of softball and the role of the umpire in the game.
