DAY 2 SCHEDULE:
Game 6: INV v ACT 11:30AM AEST
INV 14 def ACT 7
INV: 14R 9H 5E
ACT: 7R 6H 4E
The Invitationals bag their first win of the campaign, overcoming a 4-0 deficit to overrun the ACT in five innings.
A fast start by ACT as they capitalised on some early mistakes by the Invitationals. Daryl Duke crossed the plate twice, once thanks to the efforts of Daniel Conway-Jones, and then once more in place of Conway-Jones.
Stuart Gesling then went to work, facing just three batters without any making base.
James Stewart was first to cross the home plate for INV as they found a crack in the field thanks to Grant Bedford, but Conway-Jones was quick to reply in the third inning with a homerun to maintain the four-run advantage.
Heading into the bottom of the fourth, the ACT looked in control, but the Invitationals had other plans. Daniel Cousins got things started, scoring Joseph Tobenhouse, and Kyle Biggar finished it some nine-runs-later, scoring Ben Medbury with a single. 5-2 at the start of the inning, 5-11 by its end and INV now firmly in the driver’s seat.
ACT dug deep and refused to surrender through Conway-Jones’ centre-left home run and a David Williams RBI in the fifth, but that was all they could manage.
Shayne Kilmister hit a second-ball home run to open the bottom of the fifth, and INV found two more scoring singles to enforce the runs-ahead-rule.

Game 7: QLD v WA 2:00PM AEST
WA 3 def QLD 1
WA: 3R 8H 2E
QLD: 1R 1H 1E
Western Australia clinch a hard-fought win over Queensland to open their account on day two.
After recording 27 runs on the opening day, WA were restricted by a strong defensive performance by QLD.
Despite allowing eight hits, QLD held WA to just three runs, with Kevin Ray's seven strikeouts going a long way to keep them in the fight.
Mark Harris for WA had an equally - if not more - impressive performance with the ball in hand, taking nine strikeouts and allowing just the one hit from seven innings pitched.
It was neck-and-neck for much of the game, until WA found their edge in the top of the fifth through scoring singles by Aaron Cockman and Jason Garner.

Game 8: ACT v NSW 2:00PM AEST
NSW 20 def ACT 0
NSW: 20R 16H 0E
ACT: 0R 2H 3E
New South Wales continue their winning form – sending 20 past a helpless ACT.
Jamie Sheehan and James Darby combined for 9 RBIs that included three home runs, while Darby’s double duties continued in the centre with three strikeouts and one hit allowed from two innings pitched.
The ACT were overrun in top of the third, allowing 12 runs. The NSW hitters were in fine form as they found their way out of the park three times, including Sheehan’s 3RBI homer.

Game 9: INV v QLD 4:30PM AEST
QLD 13 def INV 4
QLD: 13R 15H 2E
INV: 4R 3H 1E
Luke VanDeGriendt leads Queensland to their second win with 3RBIs including a third-ball home run to open the game.
It was a tight affair for most of the game as the Invitationals restricted the firepower of QLD to just four runs from four innings, keeping in striking distance with two of their own until the fifth.
Troy Law was the trend-setter of the fifth inning for Queensland, hitting the first of five home runs for the inning. Of the 13 runs scored, only three were not from home runs as the QLD hitters put on a powerful display with the bat.
INV were able to claw two more back in the bottom of the fifth thanks to Jeremy Farr’s 2RBI single, but they were unable to hold off the runs-ahead-rule.
The win helps keep QLD in the hunt for the coveted top-two spot.

Game 10: WA v NSW 7:00PM AEST
WA 4 def NSW 2
WA: 4R 4H 2E
NSW 2R 6H 1E
WA remain undefeated as they fend off a late comeback attempt by hosts and defending champions NSW.
Ahitana Te-Kuru pitched five innings for NSW, taking seven strikeouts to help hold the powerful offence of WA who had already scored 30 runs coming into the game.
Rodney Coltman’s 2RBI double in the second was all they could manage until the fifth, when Nathan Brown and Aaron Cockman both found their eye to hit two out of the park.
NSW replied with two of their own in the top of the sixth as Te-Kuru’s double duties with the bat paid dividends, but his 2RBI single was all WA would allow as they end the first round with maximum points.

VIC 5 def QLD 4
VIC: 5R 6H 0E
QLD: 4R 6H 2E
Victoria come from behind to claim their second win, handing Queensland their first loss of the tournament so far.
2-2 after the first inning and the pitchers went to work.
Sarah Wickens took 11 strikeouts in six innings, allowing just three hits to help restrict the QLD hitters.
QLD found an edge in the bottom of the fifth, but Niki Benbow’s 2RBI triple in the sixth brough the score level again before crossing the plat on a wild pitch to secure the winning run.
Neither team could find any more gaps in the pitcher’s armour as Victoria held onto their one-run advantage through the seventh.

Game 7: ACT v VIC 2:00PM AEST
ACT 8 def VIC 6
ACT have claimed their opening win of the campaign, holding on to see off Victoria by two.
Christine McSavaney's 2RBI single in the second sparked a four-run-inning for the ACT.
It wasn't until the top of the fifth when VIC found their way back into contention, scoring three to tie the game.
ACT wasted no time to restore the lead after the change, adding two more, maintaining a two or more run lead to secure the win.

Game 9: ACT v SA 4:30PM AEST
SA 8 def ACT 7
SA: 8R 10H 3E
ACT: 7R 7H 5E
South Australia’s three-run opening inning proves the difference maker as they secure their opening win of the tournament.
The ACT were in the hunt throughout, reducing the gap to one by the fourth.
It looked as though SA might have found the breakaway in the top of the fifth as they banked four, including Kelly O’Brien’s 2RBI single to score Michelle Davis and Tahlia Larosa.
But the reply came as ACT bagged themselves four in the fifth, including Dani Curcio’s 2RBI rouble to score Nikkita Platt and Belinda Severin.
In the seventh, SA attempt to extend their lead once more, but ACT went toe-to-toe, falling just one short as Alexis Cooper was caught trying to steal second.

Game 10: NSW v SA 7:00PM AEST
NSW 14 def SA 0
NSW: 14R 12H 0E
SA: 0R 1H 3E
New South Wales finish the first round undefeated and atop the standings by four points as they shutout South Australia in the final game of day two of the Over 35 National Championships.
Elissa Commins and Michelle Gorisse made 3RBI contributions with the bat each while Elizabeth Gosby and Charmaine Johns combined for the shutout, allowing just one hit between them.
All the scoring came in the second and third innings as NSW cleaned up with the bat.
Unable to find a way onto the scoresheet in the fourth, the runs-ahead-rule brought play to an end after the top of the inning.
