Team Manager roles available: Aussie Spirit and women’s pathway programs

Published Mon 27 Nov 2023

Softball Australia is seeking a team of experienced and highly organised people to support the delivery of the Aussie Spirit and women’s pathway programs. These exciting roles focus on providing essential administrative and operational support to the teams during domestic and international events, including training camps and competitions.

The Team Manager is a critical support person for players, coaches and support staff during camps and competitions. We have Team Manager roles available for 4 programs: the Aussie Spirit, the U19 women’s program, the U-16 women’s program and the Softball Australia Battery program.

Each of these roles is available for a period of 12 months, with a possibility to extend for an additional 12 months.

Each of these roles are described in more detail in the Team Manager job description, but are slightly different in terms of time commitment and skills/experience of the candidates required.

Aussie Spirit team manager: The Aussie Spirit program involves 3-4 domestic camps and 1-2 international tours per year (typically between February and October). The appointed team manager will be expected to be available for the majority of, but not all, team activities. The role will involve collaboration with other team managers who may step in from time-to-time to support the program.

U-19 Women’s program: The U-19 women’s program involves 2-3 domestic camps and 1 international tour per year (typically between February and October). The international competition program for this age group will include, but is not exclusive to, the WBSC U-18 women’s world cup. The appointed team manager will be expected to be available for the majority of, but not all, team activities. The role will involve collaboration with other team managers who may step in from time-to-time to support the program.

U-16 women’s program: The U-16 women’s program involves 1-2 activities per year (typically between March and July), which will either be domestic athlete development camps or an international competition tour. The appointed team manager is expected to be available for all activities for this age group.

Battery program: The battery program involves 2 domestic camps per year (February and May) for pitchers and catchers across age groups, and a cohort of battery coaches. The team manager will support the implementation of the program by providing administrative and operational support in the lead up to and following the camps. A key part of this role will be linking with the other team managers to exchange knowledge about players. This role may suit team manager who has a particular interest in pitching and catching, or someone who is used to working with players across different age groups.

Applicants can apply for more than one role by indicating which roles they are interested in as part of your cover letter.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are skilled in providing administrative support to the Head Coach in all areas of off-the-field activities
  • Can efficiently lead the arrangements for team travel for domestic camps and support the arrangements for team travel for international camps and competition, whilst working to a pre-determined budget, and
