Coaching Prerequisites
Under the Softball Australia coaching requirements, online coaching courses require a number of prerequisites documents.
Additionally, coaches that are reaccrediting or upgrading their accreditation must ensure their prerequisites documents are valid and up to date. Visit the Reaccreditation page for more information.
The "Softball Batter Up Coaching Induction", "Fundamental Skills", "Training and Practice", and "Managing Games") courses require the following documents uploaded directly into each course.

UPDATE - APRIL 2025
The Australian Sports Commission recently updated the Community Coaching - Essentials Skills Course to a module-based course. You will be required to complete all 7 modules and be issued with the formal certificate to meet the prerequisite requirement.
The other main change is the removal of the Safeguarding module. As Sports Integrity Australia now have a centralised Safeguarding Children and Young People course on their website, the initial Safeguarding module is no longer required in the Community Coaching Essential Skills course.
Softball Australia will require all coaches and teacher deliverers to complete the Sport Integrity Australia Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction module if they commence/complete the new Community Coaching – Essential Skills Course.
If you have completed the Community Coaching - Essential Skills Certificate within the last 4 years you will not have to complete again. If you are unsure, please reach out and we will be able to let you know what you need to do.
Each prerequisite is checked prior to the course certificate being sent. If a prerequisite is incorrect or out-of-date documents are uploaded onto the SBU site this will result in an incomplete course and the coach will not be issued with their accreditation. Proof of completion must be uploaded which includes course completion certificate and signed document are expected. If you have completed any of the prerequisites already, you do not have to complete them again, but you must stay up to date and ensure each of the certificates are "current". You will be asked in the last section of each course to upload the certificates from your prerequisite courses.
Make sure you take the time to complete and upload these documents correctly.
If you are having issues uploading documents please contact
